Web SpiderA web spider is another name for a web crawler or web bot. Web spiders are small non-intrusive computer programs that scour the internet and index the contents of websites. They do this by first making a copy of the information and then it is analyzed. Web spiders are how search engines index and find the websites on searches. A Web spider can be set to recognize only specific information in terms of phrases or specific types of information like emails. These spiders can be used in web grabbing software as well to copy and deliver the data in forms that make analysis more efficient.
